History
Strong history as a systems architect, engineer and developer, database administrator, and operations manager in a variety of applications. Focused on web scale projects, leveraging distributed computing and horizontally scaling cloud based deployments.
Involved in the design, implementation and maintenance of systems ranging from small client/server networks with 4 nodes to retail enterprise back-end systems spread across 100′s of sites in multiple states, to most recently, web scale cloud based applications.
A competent developer, with skill and drive focused on systems engineering and architecture. Making decisions which support both short and long term business objectives, reducing technical risks and managing costs.
Specialties
Web application development with MVC frameworks including Ruby on Rails, PHP symfony & Zend, and Java Server Faces/ICE Faces. Designing, implementing and maintaining scalable application architectures. Engineering systems which include Linux HA, Apache HTTPD, nginx, Lucene/Solr, Nagios, Puppet, Chef. Skill and experience with programming languages including C, C++, Java, Perl, Ruby, Php and Lisp (Common Lisp and elisp).
Current Role
Oversees systems engineering; the design and implementation of our servers. Works closely with the development team on core technology selection and application architecture. Manages the remote server operations in both our testing and production environments.
